Halocarbon Management

High Pressure ISO Container

In 1993 RemTec International established a comprehensive Halocarbon Management Program in response to our customer's need to avoid emissions that either destroyed the ozone layer or added to global warming. RemTec's Program makes it easy to safely dispose of unwanted Halons, CFC's, HCFC's, and HFC's. We purchase, reclaim, and recycle these halocarbons, meeting or exceeding all industry standards. RemTec maintains a large inventory for “critical users”, strictly following all regulations and laws concerning the safe handling and transportation of all halogenated agents in
our Program.

Distillation

Occasionally, owners of ozone depleting chemicals may select destruction as a preferable option, especially if their corporate policies require permanent disposal of all ODS's (Ozone Depleting Substances), Class I (CFC's and Halons), Class II (HCFC's), or the new replacement alternavtives with high Global Warming Potential (GWP). Our facility in Bowling Green, Ohio stands ready to destroy these unwanted agents with an environmentally friendly 99.9999% efficiency rating.

Fractional Distillation

Fractional Distillation is commonly used in petroleum refineries, chemical and natural gas processing plants, and is also the most efficient method of separating cross-contaminated (used) refrigerants. Over the last ten years, RemTec International has invested in fractional distillation equipment, that is specifically designed to separate cross-contaminated refrigerant mixures as part of our proprietary reclaiming process.

It should be noted that some refrigerants cause formation of "azeotropes" when mixed with HCFC-22 (R-22). A good example of this is when used R-12 or R-115 is mixed with R-115 is mixed with R-22. Azeotropic mixtures tend to retain the same composition

in the vapor state as in the liquid state, when distilled or partially evaporated under a certain pressure. These

mixtures form a strong bond and behave like a single component refrigerant displaying unique and unexpected properties. Most distillation towers cannot separate azeotropes into pure individual components using conventional distillation processes, without resorting to other special distillation techniques or consuming excessive amounts of energy. This is why it is very important to prevent mixing refrigerants when recovering them from equipment.

To our valued customers:

I am writing this letter to confirm that that RemTec International, Inc. has never purchased, or accepted any Halon 1211 or 1301 from LyonTech Engineering Ltd., a UK based company that has allegedly supplied contaminated Halon to the aviation industry and others in Europe.
